He was predeceased by: his parents, David Earl Sr. and Ola Gray Whitaker. He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann; his children, Jeffrey (Rhonda Whitaker), Rachel (William Baisden), Eric (Adrienne Scherer) and Jonathan (Erin Scherer); and his brother Michael (Joanne Whitaker).
