Helen leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Helen’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Helen will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Clyde Sherman and Vida Walters Sherman; her husband Benjamin Steig; and her brother Dr. Richard Sherman. She is survived by: her son Sherman Steig (Brenda); and her stepdaughters, Debbie Schlemmer (Larry), Nancy Cooper (Butch) and Ruthie Goddard (Linda). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as a Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
A burial will be held on Friday, June 19th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Oakwood Cemetery (2124 S 5th St, Waco, TX 76706). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Central Christian Church (4901 Lake Shore Dr, Waco, TX 76710).
