He was predeceased by : his parents, Lloyd Vernon and Mary Agnes Johnson (Hayes); and his siblings, Jerald Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Norma Henderson.
He is survived by : his wife Thelma L. Buchanan; his children, Terrence Johnson of Guffey, Charles Johnson (Donna) of Albuquerque, Patricia Schmillen of East Peoria, Mary LeGrand (Steve) of Cape Girardeau and David Johnson (Kathy) of Springfield; and his grandchildren, James Johnson (Tami), Ashley McCarthy (Kevin), Rachel Schmillen (Keith Goodman), Rose Schmillen (Kevan Lee Lum), Sara Pillischafske (Alex), Brianna Powers (Sean), Adam LeGrand, Chleo Hoelzeman (Jacob) and Karra Johnson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th 2024 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (303 S 7th St, Pekin, IL 61554). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 26th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Friday, July 26th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL 62707).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carle Health Center for Philanthropy benefiting Pekin Hospital, 611 West Park Street, Urbana, IL 61801or to St. Joseph Catholic Church for the Building Fund, 303 South 7th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
