With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Fred Steele of Lyndon, Illinois, born in Murphysboro, Illinois, who passed away on August 19, 2024 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Steele and Pearl Steele (Logan); his former wife Peggy Stone; his wife Vivian Keene; and his siblings, Maxine Stone, Evelyn Mathis, Callie Lee, Elizabeth Steele, John Steele and James Steele.
He is survived by: his children, Greg Steele (Judy) of Princeton, IA, Jeff Steele (Mary) of Lyndon, IL, Jane Hardin (Gary) of Rantoul, IL and Mark (LeeAnn) of Morrison, IL; his stepchildren, Robert Barth (Edward Davis) and Barbara Niedner; and his siblings, Rex Steele and Ramona Mathis. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bosma-Renkes - Morrison Chapel (404 Lincoln Hwy, Morrison, IL 61270). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
A memorial has been established to Morrison United Methodist Church.
