He was predeceased by: his father Thomas Alva; his wife Tina M. Barber of Smithboro, Illinois; and his brothers, Ronald and Donald Koontz. He is survived by: his mother Judy Koontz (Shultz) of Smithboro, Illinois; his sons, Robert Koontz (Lacey) of Mulberry Grove and Tyler Koontz (Trinidad Gomez) of Urbana, Illinois; his grandchildren, Mia Koontz and Benjamin Koontz; his brother Keith Koontz of Smithboro, Illinois; and his siblings-in-law, Sherry Pugh (Matt) of Fillmore, Illinois, Scott Barber (Shonda) of Greenville and Bill Barber (Lori) of Lebanon, Missouri.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Christian Church (1100 Killarney Dr, Greenville, IL 62246). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Mulberry Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, for Mia & Ben's College Education Fund, may be given at the visitation or mailed to the Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246. The family asks that donations be made to the Mia & Ben College Education Fund, in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts.
