It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Charles William Everett of McLeansboro, Illinois, born in Strasburg, Illinois, who passed away on September 19, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Everett and Opal Louisa Everett (Shanholtzer); and his siblings, John Everett, Mary Reardon, Betty Ashley (Jim) and Judy Conaway.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Everett (Gunter) of McLeansboro; his children, Kristi Rodenbeck (Steve) of Zeeland, MI, Tim Everett (Cristine) of Springfield, IL, Stephanie Batty (Shawn) of McLeansboro and Bethany Friedrich (Jeff) of St. Louis, MO; his stepchildren, Amy Kelly (Dean) of Dahlgren, IL, Justin Green of McLeansboro and Cameron Green (Erica) of Cary, IL; his grandchildren, Alex Rodenbeck, Tyler Batty (Erin), Noah Batty (Jasmine), Haleigh Batty, Benjamin Friedrich, Henry Friedrich and Dillon Cody (Haley); and his sister Irma Lingreen (Jim) of Champaign, IL. He is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gholson Funeral Home- McLeansboro (500 S Washington St, McLeansboro, IL 62859). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 22nd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Sunday, September 22nd 2024 at the Ioof Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
