With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Jo Funk of Nokomis, Illinois, who passed away on June 5, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Ludwig and Mary Ludwig (Hegarty); her husband James Funk; her sister Barbara Owens; and her nephew Brent Ludwig.
She is survived by: her children, William "Bill" Steele III (Rebecca) of Springfield, IL, James "Mike" Steele (Ceitha) of Springfield, IL, Frank Steele (Beth) of Nokomis, IL, Cynthia "Cindy" Hancock (Keith) of Oconee, IL and Susan "Susie" Steele of Nokomis, IL; her stepdaughters, Laura Pesko (Brian) of Hillsboro, IL, Linda Brown (Paul) of Petersburg, IL and Karen Miller (David) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; her grandchildren, William Steele IV, Veronica Brown, Aly Hannan, Vincent Steele, Abbey Steele, Keith Steele, Kyle Hancock, Jake Steele, Jessi Steele, Colten Steele, Brody Steele, Riley Steele and Remy Steele; and her brothers, Butch Ludwig of Pana, IL and Bob Ludwig (Roberta) of Champaign, IL. She is also survived by nine step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Louis Catholic Church (311 S Elm St, Nokomis, IL 62075). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at the Calvary Cemetery.
