He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Birkey and Frances Birkey (Hieser); and his former wife Mary Ellen Wiles Birkey. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Bode; his daughter Sue Berry of Elliott; his son-in-law Kyle Berry of Gibson City; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Radmer (Brennan) of St. Peters, MO, Bethany Kolhoff (Andrew) of Heyworth and Melissa Zahnd (Harold) of Champaign; his grandchildren, Maryn and Judd Berry; his stepgrandchildren, Zoey Radmer, Kaitlyn Kolhoff (Chance Tinsley), Tucker and Colette Zahnd; and his sister Susie Oyer (Jerry) of Gibson City.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Rosenbaum Funeral Home (925 IL-47, Gibson City, IL 60936). A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the East Bend Mennonite Church (702 County Rd 3300 N, Fisher, IL 61843).
