It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James A. Ray of Evansville, Indiana, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Rita S. Bassemier Ray; his parents, Henry Ray and Eliza Ray; and his brother Edward Ray. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Ray of Huntsville, AL, James E. Ray (Brenda) of Evansville, Regina Russelburg of Evansville, Madonna Woehler (Danny) of Evansville and Rachelle Higdon (Don) of Evansville; and his sister Shirley Pelz of Indianapolis. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church (704 N First Ave, Evansville, IN 47710).
