With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joana Katy Albu in Newburgh, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 7, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Joana Katy may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joana Katy touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband Rada Albu; her parents, Gheorghe Vasile and Leana Vasile; her sister Maria; and her brother-in-law Gheorghe Ciacaru.
She is survived by: her daughter Radoica; her son-in-law Dan Kilgore; and her grandchildren, Daniel (Zoë Thatcher) of Houston, TX and Katerina (Nathan Schoenfeld) of Indianapolis, IN.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, May 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A burial will be held on Saturday, May 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery.
