He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thorne and Margaret Thorne (Schneeberger); his parents-in-law, William "Bunny" and Helen Ackroyd (Strutz); his brother William "Bill"; and his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Thorne, Sally, Hope, Barb and Alice "Alley" Ackroyd.
He is survived by: his wife Judith "Judy"; his children, Jill Thorne (Jack Gorecki), Kristin Sherman (Mike), David Thorne (Kristin) and Susanne Thorne McLeod; his grandchildren, Claudia, Brett, Alex, Anna, Paige, Cassidy and Stone; and his brothers-in-law, Dave, Ted and Ken Ackroyd. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
