She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Cook and Trella Marie Cook; her former husband Harold J. Schmidt; her husband Philip; her sons, Mike Schmidt and Dennis Schmidt; her niece Annette Humes; her siblings, Shera Brothers, Dutch Johnson, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Benjamin Cook and Winnie Lovely; and also Philip Lovely.
She is survived by: her daughter Kim Newman (Charles) of Goshen, IN; her sibling's children, Jack Cook (Tammy), Jim Cook, Louann King (Joshua), Linda Perry (Curtis), Ronnie Cook (Lori) and Marilyn Hemminger; and her sisters-in-law, Ruby Cook and Phyllis Johnson. She is also survived by several cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home (1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, August 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Prairie Street Cemetery (301 E Hively Ave, Elkhart, IN 46516).
