With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David August Kivela (Indianapolis, Indiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 19, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though David may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those David touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sulo Kivela and Violet Kivela; and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Hay and Robert Keul. He is survived by: his wife Mary of Kenosha; his children, Laura (Rod Schroeder) of Indianapolis and James of North Aurora, IL; his grandson Erik Kivela of Minneapolis; and his siblings-in-law, Jan Keul of Phoenix and Dan Hay of Plano, TX..
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hooverwood Living Social Hall (7001 Hoover Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46260).
