He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Porter and Hester Ridout Atkins; and his siblings, Joyce Conway, Sharon Schwartz and Leroy Atkins.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his sons, Tony Atkins (Robin Helton), Guntis Atkins (Amy) and Mark Atkins (Rena) of Richmond; his stepdaughters, Tammie Dunn (Jeff Matthews) of Indianapolis and Debbie Riley of Greenfield; and his former wife Guna. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home (222 N 10th St, Richmond, IN 47374). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
