It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anna Bakanec of Carmel, Indiana, who passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Anna Bakanec to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Steinkey and Rosalie Steinkey (Fred Anhelher); her husband James Bakanec; and her stepchildren, Janice and Jim.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Anhelher (Sheila), Charlotte Anhelher and Tracy Anhelher; her stepdaughters, Debbie Bakanec-Kundert (Steve) and Sherry Bakanec (Jim); her grandson Tyler Anhelher (Jessalyn); her stepgrandchildren, Alisha (Bill), Evan and Adaya (Devon); her great grandchild Rebecca; her stepgreat-grandsons, Azrael and Pyriel; and her sisters, Breketa, Betty, Johanna and Cathy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Pattison Funeral Home (540 S Railway St, Medicine Hat, AB T1A2T4). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Rd SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1B4V3). A burial will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at the TBD Hillside Cemetery (1280 10 Ave SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A1J1).
