It is with great sadness that the family of Laura "Lali" Burgos announce her peaceful passing on April 13, 2026, at the age of 77. Beloved mother of Agustin Alvarez Jr.(Cindy), Eduardo Alvarez, and Raquel Alvarez-Farris (Larry). Proud grandmother of Elaina (Isaiah), Celina, Kayla, Eduardo Jr., Alivia, Felicity, Simone and Sebastian. Great- grandmother of Elias, Leo, Apollo, and Roman. Sister of Luz Burgos, Reinaldo Burgos, Felix Burgos, Jesus (Ana) Burgos, and Neida Burgos. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents Fermin and Marcelina Burgos and siblings: Efrain Burgos, Milagro "Rosa" Burgos, Conrado "Gango" Burgos, Hector Burgos, Maria Burgos de Acevedo, Elminio Burgos, and Angel Burgos.
Laura was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a child along with her siblings and parents. She worked in different positions early on including a Health Care Assistant taking care of the elderly. Later, she worked at Milwaukee Public Schools for many years in her favorite position as a Children's Health Assistant.
She took great pride in cooking for her family and having them over for special occasions or just to eat her rice! Her hard-working, strong, (and sometimes wild and crazy) spirit will be forever remembered by her family.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 23, at 11am followed by a service at 1pm at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services, 10121 W North Avenue in Wauwatosa, WI 53226. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
